Medical Center of McKinney has opened a senior health clinic focused on a new approach to geriatric care. The McKinney Senior Health Clinic, 4201 Medical Center Drive, Suite 300, opened its doors on Monday, July 1.

The McKinney Senior Health Clinic is designed to serve as a global center where health care and medical needs of seniors will be met – in a full-service, state-of-the-art facility.

An estimated three out of four people over the age of 65 have multiple chronic health conditions. This means a typical senior may have diabetes, arthritis and high blood pressure.

Zahid Zafar, MD

“Our staff understands that as people age, their body metabolism changes too. Proper geriatric care is a delicate balance of managing disease and pain, as well as ensuring the proper medications and dosage amounts are administered and monitored,” said Zahid Zafar, MD, medical director of the McKinney Senior Health Clinic.

The McKinney Senior Health Clinic services include:

•  Same day appointments

•  Comprehensive range of care in a single, state-of-the-art facility

•  Walk-ins appointments available for lab and radiology with physician orders

•  Coordination of care and access to specialists

•  Ancillary services including referrals to home health and rehab

•  Social workers specially trained in evaluating each patient situation

•  24-Hour answering service manned by a physician or nurse practitioner

“The clinic’s immediate access to key services and the staff’s specialized expertise both further illustrate Medical Center of McKinney’s commitment to providing care for its patients during every phase of their lives,” said Dr. Zafar.
