Harden Healthcare provides a continuum of healthcare services for seniors – including hospice care, home health, skilled nursing, rehabilitation and assisted living – through its various companies. The Harden family of companies employs 33,000 associates who serve more than 35,000 patients a day.

“Providing compassionate care will remain the hallmark of all Harden Healthcare companies, including Girling Hospice Texas,” Lew Little, Harden Healthcare chief executive officer, said. “As a company, we’ve grown significantly in recent years and feel the time is right to unify most of our companies under the Harden name and branding. We also believe this will help our patients recognize Harden companies, which will always provide the highest-quality care, as their healthcare needs change and they navigate the continuum of care.”

Girling is well respected and trusted in senior care throughout the state. Next month, Girling will celebrate 46 years serving Texans.

The top priority of the company will continue to be the comfort and well-being of its patients, providing end-of-life care focused on enhancing the quality of life for patients and their families.

The first hospice program in the United States opened in 1974, and currently, there are more than 5,000 programs nationwide. The Medicare hospice benefit, enacted by Congress in 1982, is the major source of funding for hospice care.

“An increasing number of patients and their families are realizing the unique blend of clinical, social and spiritual support services that hospice care provides,” Little said. Hospice services allow them to focus on spending quality time with friends and family rather than on care-giving details during this difficult time. Hospice is also there to support the family after the loss of a loved one.”
