McKINNEY (Oct. 9, 2013) — Jeffery Kerr, M.D. has been named Vice President of Medical Affairs (VPMA) at Baylor Medical Center at McKinney. As VPMA, Dr. Kerr will be the physician administrative leader for quality improvement efforts, safety, electronic health record implementation, and medical staff support.
Dr. Kerr is board certified in Family Medicine, and has previously served in a variety of clinical and administrative leadership roles throughout the Baylor Health Care System. In 2003, he joined the teaching staff of the Baylor Family Medicine Residency Program at Garland and served as Associate Program Director. In 2005, Dr. Kerr was recruited by Baylor’s Department of Clinical Transformation, where he has since been instrumental in the successful implementation and utilization of electronic health records (EHR) across Baylor Health Care System.

A native of Houston, Dr. Kerr completed undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin in 1990 and earned a Doctorate of Medicine from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center’s School of Medicine in 1995. He then completed residency training in Family Medicine in 1998 and a Fellowship in Academic Medicine in 2001 (Both at McLennan County Medical Education and Research Foundation in Waco).
Dr. Kerr says he is excited to roll up his sleeves and be a part of the great work being done at Baylor McKinney. On a personal note, Dr. Kerr and his wife Michelle have been married for over 20 years and have four sons. His interests include support of the local Young Life committee in Wylie, music, hunting, cooking, fitness and nutrition, medieval and nautical history, moral philosophy and cosmology.
