E-Care Emergency Centers, along with Gigley Real Estate and Cooper Fitness Center at Craig Ranch, present the Aaron’s Race and Roll 5K and 1K Fun Run on Saturday, Jan. 18 at Cooper Aerobics Center in McKinney, according to information posted on the E-Care website.
All participants are welcome to walk, run or roll in wheelchairs along the 5K and 1K routes. The race begins at 9 a.m., with packet pickup opening at 7:30 a.m. Come to run, cheer or just enjoy donuts, hot chocolate, coffee, bounce houses and even a petting zoo. This accessible event supports people with special needs and abilities.
Staying active is the key to a healthy lifestyle, and so is participating in worthy charitable causes designed to include everyone, no matter what their athletic ability or physical challenges. E-Care Emergency Centers proudly supports the efforts of Aaron Gigley to create this race that could benefit the actual participants as much as the groups receiving donations. Gigley designed Aaron’s Race and Roll to be accessible to everyone, including people who dream of being an athlete against all odds.
This McKinney teen overcame many physical setbacks that began with a brain injury at age 2, and included painful congenital bone conditions affecting his feet, but still found a way to the finish line of a triathlon in 2011. His hope is to share that same feeling of victory with many others who face similar disabilities.
Volunteers and donations are welcome. See more information at Aaron’s Race and Roll page. The event hopes to raise $10,000 for ManeGait Therapeutic Horsemanship, with additional proceeds going toward the good works of Especially Needed and Special Olympics of Texas.
