McKINNEY – During the McKinney City Council meeting on May 6, The Courts at Gabe Nesbitt Community Park were presented the 2013 United States Tennis Association’s (USTA) Texas Member Organization of the Year award for its service to the tennis community.

The Texas Member Organization of the Year award was established in 1982 and presented annually to a member organization to recognize outstanding service to the local community, to the organization members and to the game of tennis. Previously, USTA named The Courts at Gabe Nesbitt Park the 2012 Featured Facility award winner, the organization’s highest honor.

“Our city is known for its superb quality of life, including exemplary parks and recreational facilities like our tennis center,” said Ryan Mullins, Interim Director of the Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department. “McKinney is proud to receive national recognition for The Courts, due in large part to the dedication and hard work of Lifetime Tennis, which operates The Courts.”

The Courts have 11 lit tennis courts featuring a premier stadium court and host year-round lessons, classes, leagues and tournaments. The 3,500 square foot clubhouse includes a pro shop offering merchandise and professional services. The complex is located within Gabe Nesbitt Community Park, 3253 Alma Rd. in McKinney.
