The Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Collin County is honored to announce that Collin County Sheriff Terry G. Box will serve as honorary chair of the 10th Annual CASAs for Kids Classic Golf Tournament, scheduled for Monday, Sept. 30 at Gentle Creek Golf Club in Prosper.
A lifelong law enforcement officer, Sheriff Box is one of the longest serving county sheriffs in Texas. His career includes service with the McKinney and Plano police departments before joining the Collin County Sheriff's Department in 1981. Box was appointed to the office in 1985 where he has since been re-elected five times. Sheriff Box is well known for his philanthropic endeavors including his ongoing support of numerous Collin County non-profit organizations, through fundraising efforts like the Sheriff Box Shoot Out for Kids Golf Tournament.
Proceeds from this year's tournament will benefit CASA of Collin County. CASA of Collin County's mission is to train ordinary citizens to become advocates for children removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect. These CASA Volunteer Advocates provide a powerful voice in court for these vulnerable children and advocate for their best interest.
Gentle Creek Golf Club is a member's only club in Prosper. Its scenic layout meanders through 235 acres of manicured fairways and wooded countryside. Carved into the gently rolling terrain, this golf course offers an immensely pleasurable game for the average golfer, with enough subtle nuances to challenge the more skilled player. The course features intriguing elevation changes, picturesque water hazards including a spectacular 22-acre lake and large TifEagle Bermuda greens groomed to perfection.
The tournament will feature a variety of on-the-course contests as well as other fun golf elements. Golfers are scheduled to tee off at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
Sponsorship opportunities are available and proceeds help CASA fulfill its mission of providing the highest standard of advocacy for 100% of Collin County's most vulnerable children. Registration includes lunch, on-course refreshments, player gift and goodie bag, post-tournament buffet and awards reception. The silent auction and raffles will provide the players with the chance to win awesome items.
