Prestonwood Christian Academy (PCA) announced that after an extensive search, Coach Holly Mulligan has accepted the Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach position. Coach Mulligan brings 14 years of successful coaching experience, most recently as Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach at McKinney North High School (5A) where she was named District 10-5A Coach of the Year (2015-16), led the team to consecutive Texas State Basketball Playoffs and a District Championship in 2015-16.

Prior to her tenure at McKinney North High School, Lake Highlands High School (6A) (2006-15) experienced an incredible turnaround under Coach Mulligan’s leadership, making appearances at consecutive Texas State Basketball Playoffs, Bi-District Championship Game and was District Runner-Up.

During her tenure at Hillsboro High School (3A) in 2004 through 2006, she also served as Assistant Varsity Softball Coach, JV Softball Coach, and Head Girls Track Coach. From the very beginning Coach Mulligan’s commitment was demonstrated. As Head Varsity Basketball and Softball Coach at Celeste High School (1A) in 2003-04 where she helped lead the basketball team to District Championship, she was named District 18 – Coach of the Year.

Coach Mulligan has a passion for coaching basketball and the game of life. “As I work with players to build character, I teach my athletes how to be successful young women,” she said. Her success training is built on tough love and teaches discipline, hard work, how to compete and how to have a will to win. She has a BA in English and Kinesiology and Sports Studies from Texas A&M- Commerce, where she also played basketball. She earned her MA in Kinesiology from Texas A&M- Commerce. During her studies at University of North Texas in 2000, she participated in the sports ministry outreach and played basketball in Taipei, Taiwan.

Chris Cunningham, Prestonwood Christian Academy’s Athletic Director is looking forward to Coach Mulligan joining the team at PCA. "She has been an active leader in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes throughout her coaching career. We could not be more excited about the Mulligans joining our PCA family. And, Coach Mulligan could not be more ready to meet our young ladies and begin leading this team where God wants to take them. She will oversee all areas of our PCA Girls Basketball program including developing our Lower and Middle School feeder programs," said Coach Cunningham.

Coach Mulligan has garnered many awards and honorable mentions during her illustrious career including GTE Academic All-American Hall of Fame XII Students of the Game Award, United States Marine Corp Distinguished Athlete Award, Scholar-Athlete U.S. Army Reserve Award and Semi-Finalist Christian Athlete of the Year. Coach Mulligan also enjoys seeing athletes succeed personally. Under her mentorship, 29 of 47 senior athletes have received full and partial collegiate scholarships.

Prestonwood Christian Academy serves more than 1,600 students enrolled at three campuses: Plano (Pre-Kindergarten 3 through 12th grade), PCA North in Prosper (Pre-Kindergarten 3 through 7th grade) and PCAplus Virtual Academy.
