Mr. Chris Jones to Assume Strategic Role in Athletic Department
Prestonwood Christian Academy (PCA) announced that Mr. Chris Jones will assume the role of the Associate Athletic Director. Mr. Jones has served at PCA for more than five years, most recently as the Upper School Dean of Students and Varsity Football Defensive Coordinator. This position became available last week when Mr. Steven Greek stepped down as Associate Athletic Director to become the Head Football Coach at Liberty Christian School in Argyle, TX.
“Prestonwood Christian Academy is blessed to have someone of Mr. Jones’ caliber to serve as Associate Athletic Director. He is a servant leader who is passionate about developing the character and skill of our student athletes,” said Dr. Larry Taylor, PCA Head of School.
Mr. Jones received his Bachelor of Science from North Texas State University and his Master of Education from North Texas State University. Mr. Jones spent 19 years teaching and coaching in the Allen ISD, serving as a Middle School Social Studies teacher/Athletic Coordinator, High School Varsity Head Baseball Coach, High School Varsity Football Secondary Coach, High School Social Studies Teacher and Assistant Principal at Allen High School. He then spent more than ten years at Decatur High School as a Varsity Football (Defensive Coordinator) and Baseball Coach and Social Studies teacher.
During a time of transition in Upper School leadership, Mr. Jones took on the role of Upper School Dean of Students. “He has served the role of Dean of Students very well and provided a consistency to the discipline in our Upper School as well as discipleship training for our students in their daily lives, academics, and spiritual walk. We are excited about this opportunity for him to serve in our Athletic Office and to continue to be a part of the culture of the Middle and Upper Schools at Prestonwood Christian Academy,” said Upper School Principal, Wendy Morris.
“I am humbled to receive the appointment of Associate Athletic Director at PCA under the leadership of Coach Cunningham and his focus on Kingdom athletics. We can talk about strategy and X’s and O’s all day long, but it really is all about what comes from the heart. I love seeing our student-athletes grow and improve as they perform for an audience of One,” Mr. Jones shared.
“I’m eager to work closely with Coach Jones as our new Associate Athletic Director,” said Coach Chris Cunningham, Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. “With his experience, character and ability, I believe great things are ahead for PCA.”
