The Plano West Lady Wolves finished second in the recent Sandra Meadows Classic held Dec. 27-29 in Duncanville.

The highlight of the girls basketball tournament for Plano West, however, occurred in the quarterfinals. In a five-overtime thriller against Clear Springs (from League City, Texas), the Wolves won 107-105.  According to reports citing the National Federation of State High School Associations record book, it was the highest-scoring girls basketball game in Texas history and the sixth-highest in national history.

In the other four games for Plano West, the highest total scored was 65 points in a qualifier game against Beaumont Ozen.

After blowing out the scoreboard with 107 points, the Lady Wolves combined for a mere 69 points in the final two games combined, losing the Duncanville 64-32 in the championship game. Duncanville's highest total in a single game in the tournament was 74 points.

Denton Ryan, Frisco Liberty, Richardson and Wylie were among the area teams that also participated in the tournament.
