McKinney High School wide receiver T.V. Williams, a rising senior, announced on Tuesday that he is choosing the University of Kentucky as his college commitment. The announcement was made during an assembly at the school.

All commitments are oral and non-binding until the athlete signs a letter-of-intent during National Signing Day held on the first Wednesday in February.

Last season as a junior, Williams was second on the team with 45 receptions for 789 yards. He tied for the team lead (with recent graduate Connor Fuentes) in touchdown receptions with 10.

According the published reports, Williams chose Kentucky over four other schools: Houston, Iowa, Nebraska and Oregon State. In addition to Houston, ESPN.com reports other Texas schools that offered scholarships to Williams include SMU, North Texas, Sam Houston State and Texas State.

Rivals.com ranks Kentucky’s recruiting class, now at 19, as No. 3 in the nation for 2014. Scout.com gives Kentucky a No. 9 ranking.

The Lexington Herald-Leader and Louisville Courier-Journal are among the media outlets reporting the news.
