McKINNEY, Texas—Thirteen regular-season high school football games featuring McKinney ISD schools are scheduled to be broadcast during the 2016 season, 97.5 KLAK-FM and MISD announced this week. The agreement marks the 13th consecutive season that KLAK and MISD have presented Game of the Week broadcasts.
All Thursday and Friday broadcasts start at 6:30 p.m., with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
The 2016 schedule kicks off with McKinney High hosting Richardson Pearce on Friday, Aug. 26. The second broadcast features a pair of perennial 6A playoff teams, as McKinney Boyd hosts Coppell on Friday, Sept. 2. McKinney North hosts Frisco Centennial on Thursday, Sept. 8. McKinney and Midlothian are scheduled to finish the non-district schedule with a special Saturday game at the new Ford Center at The Star in Frisco.
The regular season broadcast schedule closes with the return of the crosstown rivalry between McKinney Boyd and McKinney on Friday, Nov. 4.
“McKinney ISD athletics is proud to partner with KLAK 97.5 in order to present high-quality broadcasts featuring our student-athletes,” said Shawn Pratt, McKinney ISD athletic director. “Offering these broadcasts furthers our goal to have the best in class in everything we do. We have three programs that have high expectations of themselves, and we believe we have the kind of broadcast presentation that is worthy of all three schools.”
Award-winning broadcaster Nathan Barnett, sideline reporter in 2014, returns to the crew to handle play-by-play duties, while former McKinney coach Will Hodges returns for his eighth season as color analyst. Randi LeBlanc will return for a second season as sideline reporter. Barnett, the current play-by-play voice of the Texas Rangers’ AA affiliate Frisco RoughRiders, was named the Carolina League’s Broadcaster of the Year in 2015 for his work for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Hodges worked as part of the coaching staff at McKinney High School from 1983 to 1994 and as an athletic administrator in MISD for eight additional seasons. LeBlanc, a McKinney North graduate, is an on-air personality for KLAK.
