McKinney North's Ronald Jones (24) roamed for big yardage Thursday versus Wylie East.

 

McKinney North's Ronald Jones rushed for six touchdowns and nearly 400 yards Thursday, but it wasn't enough as Wylie East handed the Bulldogs their first loss of the season, 49-46, at Ron Poe Stadium.

North (3-1, 0-1) led 28-7 in the second quarter and 37-27 after three quarters, but the Raiders rallied for three late touchdowns, including an 85-yard fumble-recovery return, for the win.

Wylie East (2-2, 1-0) was led by running back Eno Benjamin, who scored five touchdowns and rushed for 230 yards.

The Bulldogs travel to face Prosper Friday.

Plano West's Soso Jamabo was unstoppable Friday.

 

Plano West's Soso Jamabo scored seven touchdowns and rushed for nearly 250 yards to lead the undefeated Wolves past McKinney Boyd, 62-30, Friday at Ron Poe Stadium.

Boyd's Grant Restmeyer threw for 300 yards in the loss and Brandon Bowling had five catches for 113 yards.

Boyd (2-3,1-2) faces Plano East (1-3, 1-1) Friday in Plano.

In Wylie, McKinney fell to the Pirates, 27-24, in the District 10-5A opener for both teams.

The Lions led, 17-13, in the third quarter after Donnie Porter's fumble recovery in the Wylie end zone, but the Pirates responded with two touchdowns.

McKinney's Brian Sutter threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Robinson in the second quarter to give the Lions their first lead, 10-7.

McKinney (1-3, 0-1) hosts Denison (2-2, 0-1) Friday.
