FRISCO — Fans in the Metroplex will have the unique opportunity to witness the future of the Texas Rangers this spring when the Frisco RoughRiders host the Triple-A Round Rock Express in a preseason exhibition game on Sunday, March 30 at 2:05 p.m. The contest will pit the top two minor league affiliates of the Rangers’ farm system against one another and will serve as the unofficial start for the RoughRiders’ 12th season at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

This will be the second time the RoughRiders and Express have met in the “Future Rangers Showcase” at Dr Pepper Ballpark.  The teams previously played in Frisco on April 3, 2011. The rosters from that game featured 15 players that would go on to play in the majors, including current and former Rangers Martin Perez and Craig Gentry.

“We are very excited that our fans have this opportunity to catch a glimpse of the promising future of the Rangers organization,” said RoughRiders president Scott Sonju. “In the 2013 season 12 former RoughRiders went on to play in the Major Leagues and I am sure that we will see a healthy collection of future big leaguers on the field for this game.”

The RoughRiders and Express will make it a two-game preseason series, as the teams will also play each other in Round Rock on Tuesday, April 1.

Fans may purchase tickets for the “Future Rangers Showcase 2014” by calling the RoughRiders at 972-731-9200.

Opening Day 2014 for the RoughRiders is Thursday, April 3 when the regular season officially begins. Frisco will host the Northwest Arkansas Naturals at 7:05 p.m. as part of a six-game season-opening home stand.
