The Collin College men’s and women’s tennis teams both finished in the top five in the National Junior College Tournaments.

The men’s tournament was held May 12-17 at Collin College’s Spring Creek Campus in Plano. The women’s tournament was held May 4-9 at the Jim Reffkin Tennis Center in Tucson, Ariz.

The men’s team total was 34 points, good for a third-place finish. The women’s team also finished in third place with a total of 32 points.

Tyler Junior College won both the men’s and women’s tournaments.

In individual honors, the Collin College men fared well.

The No. 1 doubles team of sophomores Patrick Clynes and Donovan McSeveney won their flight, beating the team of Vincennes (Ind.) sophomore Erick Bermudez and freshman Warren Kuhn in the championship match, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

In No. 3 singles, Collin’s Oscar von Koch lost in straight sets to Ryan Hudelson of Tyler JC, 6-3, 6-3.
