McKINNEY (April 7, 2014) — The McKinney Performing Arts Center (MPAC) will host a free watch party to celebrate McKinney singer/songwriter Crystal Yates who recently won the 32nd Annual Texaco Country Showdown at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium. The watch party will be held Sunday, April 13, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at MPAC, 111 N. Tennessee St. Yates will also perform during the watch party.
The Texaco Country Showdown is the largest and longest running country music talent show in the nation. The contest begins each spring with more than 450 live shows produced by country music radio stations. Local winners advance to state shows and then to one of five regional showdowns. These five winners then compete on the nationally syndicated television special.
“We are excited to celebrate with Crystal and her huge win on the Texaco Country Showdown. She joins a long list of country music superstars who have competed in the Showdown, including Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley and LeAnn Rimes,” said Amy Rosenthal, Director of MPAC and McKinney Main Street. “MPAC is the ideal place to host a watch party since she has been a staple performing in downtown McKinney for so many years.”
