Gears Up and Goggles On! TUPPS Brewery presents the first-ever Steampunk event in McKinney on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Cost is $15 and includes a collectible glass plus 3 pours of TUPPS beer (from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.). After 5 p.m., cost is just $5 per beer (does not include glass or extra pours). No extra fee to watch the bands.

Steampunk November has an ongoing “Gears of Giving” campaign. Bring canned goods (or monetary donations) for the North Texas Food Bank.

What is Steampunk? It’s a genre of science fiction that typically features steam-powered machinery rather than advanced technology. Imagine the technological revolution happened in 1850 instead of 1950. Picture in your mind the Victorian Age and throw in a combination of Jules Verne, H.G. Wells, the Wild Wild West and the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and then bring it all to life right now. The past is the future, and the future is the past.
