As part of the 22nd annual Collin College Jazz Fest, distinguished trombonist Andy Martin will perform on Friday, March 28 at 8 p.m. in the John Anthony Theatre at the Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Pkwy. in Plano.
The two-day jazz festival, March 28-29, will combine award-winning guest artists, educators and students for a weekend of performances, clinics and concerts.
Tickets for the March 28 performance, where Martin will perform with the Collin College Jazz Faculty and Texas Instruments Jazz Band, cost $10 and are available at the door.
Martin is one of the most in-demand trombonists in the country. He has contributed to the albums of popular artists, including the Pussycat Dolls, Coldplay and Michael Bublé, and his television credits include the Grammys, the Emmys, The Academy Awards, the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Martin’s motion picture credits include soundtracks for more than 150 major films, and he has served as lead trombonist on “Dancing With The Stars,” “American Idol,” “Family Guy,” “American Dad,” “King of the Hill,” and many others.
Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 29 more than 30 Dallas-Fort Worth area high school bands will perform and receive ratings from judges. A schedule of events will be available on the campus that day. Daytime events are free and open to the public.
