The McKinney Boyd Drumline will host its annual Drum-a-Thon from 6 a.m. to midnight Saturday, Aug. 11.

During the 18-hour event, percussion members of the McKinney Boyd Bronco Band will make music as part of an annual team-building and fundraising event that has become known as Drum-a-Thon.

The public is welcome to enjoy the sounds of marimbas, tenors, bass drums, snares, cymbals and more as percussion members play for 18 straight hours at McKinney Boyd High School, located at 600 N. Lake Forest Drive in McKinney.

"Don’t miss this exciting event for a very worthy cause!" said Stefani Lackey, publicity chairwoman for the MBHS Bronco Band. "No admission is required, but donations are welcome and encouraged! Pledges will be taken, and any patron who donates $100 or more will be listed on this year’s Drumline shirt, which not only will be worn by our percussionists, but also by friends of the band and MBHS students."

Members of the public can get a preview of the Drum-a-Thon during a kick-off event from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10 at the Historic Downtown Square in McKinney. Donations are welcome at this venue as well.
