McKINNEY (May 20, 2013) — The 2013 Smiles Charity Concert and Festival will be held Sunday, May 26 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Adriatica outdoor concert venue.

Ryan Star is this year’s headlining act whose hits include “Breathe” and the award-winning song “Brand New Day." R5 featuring Ross Lynch from the show Austin & Ally will be the opening act. Also appearing on stage will be local favorite the Maylee Thomas Band. The Memorial Day concert event will include a flyover by WWII era planes; kids area with bounce houses, games and activities; local food and drink vendors; veterans’ wall dedicated to fallen Texas military heroes; and spectacular fireworks display.

Schedule of Events:

•  3:30 p.m. – R5 meet and greet - Adriatica Women’s Health

5 p.m. – Event Begins

5:05 p.m. – Flight of the Phoenix Flyover

5:15 p.m. – R5 opener - Disney intro

6:20 p.m. – Presentation of Byers family and General John Campbell, medic who saved Byers life

6:45 p.m. – Maylee Thomas Band performs

6:45-7:15 p.m. – Ryan Star meet and greet (Adriatica Women’s)

7:15-7:45 p.m. – press interviews with Byers Family, Smiles Charity, Ryan Star and R5

8:17 p.m. – moment of silence - video of wall

8:30 p.m. – Ryan Star performs

10 p.m. – Raffle Drawing for 2013 Cadillac ATC and other prizes

While admission to the concert is free, Smiles Charity will be accepting donations throughout the event to help build homes for severely wounded veterans. Cash and credit cards will be accepted for all donations, concessions and $5 entrance fee for the kids’ area. Net proceeds will help build a home for the Byers family through partnership with 501(c)3 charity Helping a Hero.

Raffle tickets can be purchased through along with a list of prizes available including the North American Car of the Year 2013 Cadillac ATS, a 1.39 karat diamond necklace, autographed Ryan Star, R5 & Bon Jovi guitars and much more. Only 1,000 tickets are available and will be drawn throughout concert. You do not have to be in attendance to win.
