PLANO — Grammy Award winning performers Huey Lewis and The News will be the featured artists for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County Gala 2014 on Saturday, April 12 at 6 p.m. at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas. The Gala benefits abused and neglected children who come to the Advocacy Center to receive the help they need to heal from their abuse.
As they enter their 35th year together, Huey Lewis and The News’ contagious brand of music is as fresh today as ever. Formed from two rival Bay Area bands in 1979, they continue to thrill audiences worldwide. The band’s history includes more than 20 million albums sold and dozens of chart-topping hits such as “Heart of Rock & Roll,” “Stuck With You,” “I Want A New Drug,” “If This Is It,” “Hip To Be Square” and “Workin’ For A Livin'." The group also wrote and performed “The Power of Love” and “Back in Time” for the “Back to the Future” film earning the band an Academy Award nomination and a #1 Billboard hit.
“We are so thrilled to have Huey Lewis and The News joining us for this year’s exciting Gala event,” Center CEO Lynne McLean said. “The Collin County community looks forward to Gala each year, and we know our headliner will not disappoint. This event brings much-needed awareness and raises critical funding to provide safety, healing and justice to our community’s most vulnerable children.”
Gala tickets and table sponsorships are now available. Individual tickets are $275. Table sponsorships range in price from $2,500 to $100,000.
In addition to the performance by Huey Lewis and The News, Gala 2014 will feature live and silent auctions and a raffle drawing for a 2014 Lexus IS courtesy of DFW Lexus Dealers. Car raffle tickets are $50 each and available at caccollincounty.org. Only 2,000 raffle tickets will be sold.
The Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County serves as the first stop for children who are suspected victims of abuse or neglect. Working with law enforcement and Child Protective Services, the Advocacy Center brings all services to abused children under one roof to minimize additional trauma to vulnerable children. Highly trained forensic interviewers provide a child-friendly environment in which children can safely share their stories. The Center then offers therapy and support for children and their non-offending family members.
