McKINNEY (Dec. 11, 2014) — Thirty-four student-athletes from McKinney ISD high school campuses have earned academic all-state honors in cross country, volleyball and football from the Texas High School Coaches Association.

The THSCA Academic All-State Teams presented by the U.S. Marines require that athletes, student trainers, and managers be in good standing with their teams, be a senior, and maintain an overall grade average of 92. Members of the “Elite Team” hold grade averages at or near perfect scores. Class rank and SAT or ACT scores are also considered by the THSCA.

We are very proud of our student-athletes’ academic achievements,” said Shawn Pratt, athletic director for McKinney ISD. “MISD student-athletes continue to raise the bar in both the athletic arena and the academic arena.”

Eight MISD student-athletes in cross country, 11 in volleyball and 15 in football earned the academic-all state award.
