McKINNEY (June 26, 2014) — The McKinney ISD Board of Trustees named new officers during an annual reorganization of duties at their regular Board meeting Tuesday night. Amy Dankel was named President, Bobby Amick was named Vice President and Lynn Sperry was named Secretary.

Amy Dankel

Dankel (Place 4), a retired educator, was elected to the Board in May 2011. Prior to her service as a Trustee, she served as a public school educator for 22 years – the last 10 at Finch Elementary and Eddins Elementary. Dankel and her husband, Roger, have two children who both graduated from MISD high schools. As her primary motivation for serving on the Board, Dankel cites a deep feeling of responsibility to give back to the school system and community that has given so much to her and to her family.

Bobby Amick

Bobby Amick

Amick (Place 2) is a local attorney with the law firm Francis Orr & Totusek, LLP, and has served on the Board since August 2011. In addition to his professional responsibilities and his service as a Trustee, Amick also serves as a mentor to an MISD student through the District’s affiliation with 3E, a local non-profit, and he assists local junior high students in Collin County’s annual mock trial competition. Amick has a heart for McKinney ISD gained through his longstanding involvement in the lives of teachers and students. Amick and his wife, Mindy, have two children who are currently MISD students and one who is an MISD graduate.

Lynn Sperry

Lynn Sperry

Sperry (Place 5), who publishes Gardens Magazine with her husband Neil, has served on the Board in various roles for 30 years. During that time, Sperry also served 12 years as a Director of the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) and is a graduate of the Leadership TASB program with the designation of Master Trustee. Her lengthy list of community involvement includes: Founding and current Board Member of McKinney Education Foundation; Avenues Counseling Center, Board Member and past president; Baylor McKinney Hospital, Board Member; McKinney Chamber, Education Committee Chair; Serenity High, Chair of Founding Committee and current MISD board liaison. Sperry’s three children attended MISD schools, and she is proud that the education they received prepared them for success in college and in their careers.
