McKINNEY – For 2013-2014, McKinney ISD will offer five preparatory “Blitz Camps” to help high school seniors gear up for that annual rite of passage – the SAT college entrance exam.

To be held concurrently at each of the three McKinney ISD high schools during the weeks prior to SAT testing dates, the Blitz Camps are intensive, two-session workshops which offer content review along with test-taking tips and tricks provided by McKinney ISD master teachers. The cost is $20 per camp.

“I am quite excited about our PSAT/SAT Blitz Camps,” said Robert Cochran, English teacher at McKinney North High School and SAT camp teacher.

“We are taking the successful strategies, advice and practice sessions we have been using at the summer and fall camps and condensing them into a helpful two-day version open to all MISD high school students interested in improving their SAT score,” he said.

During each camp, participants will receive and work through extensive materials designed to improve performance on the math, verbal and writing portions of the SAT. These fast-paced workshops are open to all MISD high schoolers, but space is limited to 45 students at each session.

Interested students can sign up in their campus counseling office on the Monday or Tuesday before each camp.

“MISD is excited to offer an additional opportunity to lead our students towards college readiness!” said Marita Cleaver, MISD Coordinator for Advanced Academics and LOTE.

“After attending the two-day SAT Blitz camps, students will walk into the SAT test refreshed,  motivated and with confidence.”
