McKINNEY (Dec. 2, 2015) — McKinney ISD has hired Marlene Harbeson as its new Senior Director of Finance, and the Board of Trustees approved the decision on Tuesday, Nov. 17.

The position became available recently when current Senior Director of Finance Jason Bird was chosen to replace the retiring Dr. Edd Bigbee as Chief Financial Officer for the district.

Harbeson comes to McKinney ISD from Highland Park ISD where she has served as Director of Business Services for the past year. Her nine years of experience in public education also include serving as Director of Finance and Interim CFO for Allen ISD and as Assistant Director of Finance and Special Revenue Fund Accountant for Garland ISD. In addition, Harbeson has 15 years of experience in the private sector.

“Marlene Harbeson is an outstanding addition to the McKinney ISD family and brings a tremendous track record of success and fiscal prudence,” said Bird. “We are pleased to welcome her to the district.”

Harbeson earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Management from LeTourneau University and her Master of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Phoenix. She is a member of the Texas Association of School Business Officials and holds certification as a Registered Texas School Business Administrator.
