Lions Fall In Opener

McKinney's Tyree Johnson eyes a Richardson Pearce defender Friday.

 

McKinney lost its season-opener, 45-28, Friday at Richardson Pearce. Pearce quarterback Hank Hughes tossed four touchdown passes and rushed for two scores in the Mustangs' win.

Walker Torrain led McKinney with 95 yards rushing and two touchdowns. He also caught a 40-yard touchdown pass from Tyree Johnson in the second quarter. Matt Gadek, in his first varsity action, rushed for 87 yards on 10 carries.

The Lions trailed 38-21 at halftime.

McKinney hosts Frisco Liberty, Friday, Sept. 4.

 

McKinney North Romps In Season Debut

McKinney North running back K.J. Hart cuts for more yards Friday against Carrollton Newman Smith.

 

McKinney North trounced Carrollton Newman Smith, 51-0, at Ron Poe Stadium Friday. Bulldog K.J. Hart, playing for the injured Micah Bualicex, rushed for 165 yards and four TDs.

North's Christian Files, in his first start at quarterback, threw for 120 yards and a touchdown.

Newman Smith's offense managed just 35 total yards of offense. North led, 37-0 at the half.

The Bulldogs travel to face Little Elm on Friday, Sept. 4.
