Dr. Rick McDaniel

On Tuesday, Dec. 9, the McKinney ISD Board of Trustees completed the district’s superintendent search process by formally approving a contract for Dr. Rick McDaniel as superintendent of McKinney ISD.

McDaniel, who has formerly served as principal of McKinney Boyd High School and as assistant superintendent for student services, was chosen by the Board in November as the lone finalist for superintendent. State law requires school districts to wait 21 days before signing a contract with a final candidate. McDaniel will begin his duties as superintendent on Jan. 5, 2015.

The Board launched its search for a new superintendent in September when Dr. J.D. Kennedy, who has served as superintendent for the past five years, announced his plan to retire at the end of December.
