McKINNEY (May 9, 2014) – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has revised its earlier stories about upcoming closures of northbound and southbound of U.S. 75 (Central Expressway) at Eldorado Parkway, reducing the total days of anticipated closures.
Weather permitting, all northbound mainlanes of U.S. 75 (Central Expressway), the northbound frontage road and the ramp for northbound U.S. 75 from the Sam Rayburn Tollway will be closed beginning at 9 p.m. Sunday, May 11 through 6 a.m. Monday, May 12 for demolition of the east side of the existing Eldorado Bridge.
Northbound traffic will exit at State Highway 5 (McDonald St.), turn left onto U.S. 380 (University Dr.) to return to northbound U.S. 75. Click here to view a map of the detour area (.pdf).
Then, beginning at 9 p.m. Monday, May 12 through 6 a.m. May 13, all southbound mainlanes and the southbound frontage road will be closed to finish demolition of the west side of the bridge.
Southbound traffic will exit at Eldorado Parkway and drive south on Craig Drive back to the frontage road to re-enter U.S. 75 mainlanes. Click here to view a map of the detour area (.pdf).
Motorists should expect delays, and are encouraged to use an alternate route.
As a reminder, this TxDOT construction project to widen U.S. 75 to four main lanes in each direction and three frontage road lanes in each direction will provide much needed extra capacity through McKinney. The project is now anticipated to be complete in January 2016.
Please be safe when traveling through the work zone and always observe traffic warning signs.
