McKINNEY (June 2, 2015) — Weather permitting, the Texas Department of Transportation announces there will be nightly lane closures on U.S. 75 and State Highway 121 in the northern part of McKinney Tuesday and Wednesday nights, June 2 and June 3, between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the next morning.

The U.S. 75 southbound lanes, the right northbound lane and the southbound/SH 121 ramp to southbound U.S. 75 will be closed for the demolition of the existing Telephone Road bridge. Telephone Road will remain closed at the bridge until the new bridge is constructed – several months.

For the bridge demolition the next two nights, the U.S. 75 southbound traffic will exit at Davis Road (Exit 44), continue on the frontage road and without stopping will go through the Telephone Road and FM 543 intersection and take the entrance ramp to southbound U.S. 75 north of Bloomdale Road.

The right northbound lane will be closed. The northbound mainlanes will be shifted onto the new northbound paving and will travel along the new pavement until it ties back into the existing northbound mainlanes.

Traffic headed to the southbound SH 121 ramp to southbound U.S. 75 will be detoured onto southbound SH 5 just north of the ramp. Traffic will travel south on SH 5 to FM 543, take a right onto FM 543 and travel to U.S. 75. Traffic will then cross under U.S. 75 and take a left onto the southbound frontage road.

Detours will be marked and local police will assist with the lane closures and directing traffic.

Backups are expected and motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes.
