As part of the ongoing TxDOT project to widen U.S. 75 from the Sam Rayburn Tollway (SRT) to White Avenue in McKinney, TxDOT has informed the City of the following closures, all weather permitting:
- U.S. 75 Southbound Main Lanes Closed Friday Night, June 19
TxDOT will close the southbound main lanes of U.S. 75 from north of U.S. 380 to south of Eldorado Parkway starting at 9 p.m. Friday night, June 19, to move concrete safety barriers and to allow for the construction of the new Eldorado Parkway Bridge. Southbound drivers will be diverted to the frontage road north of U.S. 380 then through the intersections at U.S. 380, White Avenue and Virginia Parkway then under Eldorado Parkway to the entrance ramp south of Ridgeview Drive. All lanes are expected to be open again by 10 a.m. on Saturday.
- U.S. 75 Northbound Main Lanes Closed Friday Night, June 19
TxDOT will close the northbound main lanes of U.S. 75 beneath Eldorado Parkway starting at 9 p.m. Friday night, June 19, to construct the new Eldorado Parkway Bridge. Northbound drivers will be diverted to the frontage road south of Eldorado Parkway then under Eldorado Parkway to the entrance ramp near the movie theater. All lanes are expected to be open again by 10 a.m. on Saturday.
- Eastbound Eldorado Parkway Closed at U.S. 75 Saturday Morning, June 20
TxDOT will close eastbound Eldorado Parkway at U.S. 75 starting at 2 a.m. Saturday morning, June 20 to construct the new Eldorado Parkway Bridge. Eastbound drivers will be diverted to the southbound frontage road then to the northbound frontage road back to Eldorado Parkway. Eastbound Eldorado Parkway is expected to be open again by 10 a.m. on Saturday.
- U.S. 75 Frontage Roads Reduced to One Lane Each Way at White Avenue Starting June 20
Starting Saturday, June 20, TxDOT will reduce the U.S. 75 northbound and southbound frontage roads to one lane each way at White Avenue to allow intersection construction to continue. With this new intersection configuration, most large trucks will be unable to turn left or right at this intersection. Delays are anticipated. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes. This temporary traffic pattern is anticipated to be in place through August.
- Virginia Parkway Intersection Partially Closed for the Summer
As a reminder, TxDOT began construction of the new Virginia Parkway and U.S. 75 intersection this week. Eastbound and westbound traffic has been reduced to just one lane each way on Virginia Parkway directly underneath U.S. 75. With this new intersection configuration, large trucks are unable to turn left or right at the northbound frontage road. Significant delays are expected. Drivers are strongly encouraged to seek alternate routes. The new intersection is expected to be open by Wednesday, Sept. 30.
Traffic will be detoured to the frontage roads.
Detours will be marked and local police will assist with the lane closures and directing traffic.
Backups are expected and motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes.
As a reminder, this TxDOT construction project to widen U.S. 75 from the SRT to White Avenue in McKinney to four main lanes in each direction and three frontage road lanes in each direction will provide much needed extra capacity through McKinney. The project is anticipated to be complete in January 2016.
Please be safe when traveling through the work zone and always observe traffic warning signs.
