As part of the ongoing TxDOT project to widen U.S. 75 from the Sam Rayburn Tollway (SRT) to White Avenue in McKinney, TxDOT has informed the City of the following closure:
- Intersection of U.S. 75 and Virginia Parkway Closed Overnight, Sunday, July 19
Weather permitting, TxDOT will close the northbound frontage road just north of Virginia Parkway and close Virginia Parkway itself directly under U.S. 75 starting at 7 p.m. Sunday night, July 19, to install underground storm drain pipes.
Northbound frontage road through-traffic will be diverted to the entrance ramp near Rockhill Road then to the White Avenue exit ramp. Northbound local drivers and westbound Virginia Parkway drivers will be diverted to Redbud Boulevard to Bois D’Arc Road then back to the frontage road.
Eastbound drivers will be diverted along the southbound frontage road to Eldorado Parkway then back along the northbound frontage road. The main lanes are expected to remain open throughout the night. Delays are expected on the frontage roads and Virginia Parkway. All lanes are expected to be open again by 5 a.m. on Monday morning.
As a reminder, this TxDOT construction project to widen U.S. 75 from the SRT to White Avenue in McKinney to four main lanes in each direction and three frontage road lanes in each direction will provide much needed extra capacity through McKinney. The project is anticipated to be complete in January 2016.
Please be safe when traveling through the work zone and always observe traffic warning signs.
Backups are expected and motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes.
