McKINNEY (Aug. 17, 2015) — As part of the ongoing TxDOT project to widen U.S. 75 from the Sam Rayburn Tollway (SRT) to White Avenue in McKinney, TxDOT has informed the City of the following closures, weather permitting:

  • Virginia Parkway under U.S. 75 Closed at Night This Week

TxDOT plans to close Virginia Parkway directly underneath U.S. 75 three times this week to place beams for the new Virginia Parkway bridge. The closures will be:

Monday, Aug. 17, at 9 p.m. to Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 5 a.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 9 p.m. to Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 5 a.m.

Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 9 p.m. to Thursday, Aug. 20, at 5 a.m.

During the closures, drivers can cross U.S. 75 at U.S. 380 and Park View Avenue. The U.S. 75 main lanes and frontage roads are expected to remain open throughout this time. However, delays are anticipated and drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes.

  • Southbound Frontage Road Closed under Eldorado Parkway Wednesday, Aug. 19

TxDOT tentatively plans to close the U.S. southbound frontage road under Eldorado Parkway on Wednesday, Aug. 19, from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. to construct new pavement.  During the closure, drivers can use Craig Drive to cross Eldorado Parkway to continue southbound. The U.S. 75 main lanes, Eldorado Parkway, and the ramps to/from Eldorado Parkway are expected to remain open throughout the day. However, delays are anticipated and drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes.

As a reminder, this TxDOT construction project to widen U.S. 75 from the SRT to White Avenue in McKinney to four main lanes in each direction and three frontage road lanes in each direction will provide much needed extra capacity through McKinney. The project is anticipated to be complete in January 2016.

Please be safe when traveling through the work zone and always observe traffic warning signs.
