McKINNEY (May 27, 2014) — The City of McKinney has announced that N. Kentucky St. in Downtown McKinney is now open to traffic after a construction project to complete infrastructure improvements. The road is open for drivers and pedestrians. The contractor will continue work on the last steps of the project that will not disrupt access. Final completion is expected in early June.
This project included replacement of the existing water and sanitary sewer lines, installation of new storm sewer system, as well as landscape, streetscape and pedestrian elements to match the look and feel of the town center environment.
As streets continue to be improved in historic downtown, construction on S. Kentucky St. is nearing completion. Remaining work items on include striping, irrigation and landscaping, which are scheduled to begin this week and anticipated for completion in June. The overall project completion date for both N. and S. Kentucky St. is July 11.
