The third annual WAM Crawfish Boil & Gumbo Cook Off will be held on Saturday, May 9 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Stonebridge Country Club on Glen Oaks Drive in McKinney.

There will be live music by the Zydeco Stingrays, a Cajun band that will spice up the atmosphere. Patrons are encouraged to bring camp chairs and blankets for resting on the lawn after dancing the afternoon away. There will be a “Kids Corner” with face painting, bounce house and more to provide entertainment for the little ones. This truly is an event for the whole family! What better way to celebrated Mother’s Day Weekend.

The crawfish will be prepared by the Cajun Crawfish Company. They are offering Louisiana boiled crawfish with sweet corn, potatoes and mushrooms. Is your mouth watering yet? Don’t worry, if you are still unsure of proper crawfish eating etiquette, there will be plenty of experts on hand ready to show you how it works. Then don’t forget to taste all the hot Gumbo entered into the Cook Off. Six contestants will be vying for your vote. (If the kiddos aren’t quite ready to eat crawfish, they will have the option of purchasing a kid’s hot dog meal instead.)

The WAM (Women's Alliance of McKinney) Crawfish Boil & Gumbo Cook Off will take place rain or shine! Come early, because once all of the crawfish has been served, that will be all. Register in advance online to ensure that three pounds of crawfish are waiting for you!
