For the second consecutive year, Texas Monthly Magazine is celebrating Texas Barbecue Week, July 13-19, presented by Texas Monthly BBQ and Shiner Beers.
Texas Monthly Magazine writes: "This July, TMBBQ will be hosting the second annual Texas Barbecue Week. During this week-long celebration of our culinary heritage, Texans everywhere can visit participating barbecue joints to enjoy a featured 'Texas Barbecue Week plate.' It’s a way to support the folks who are working hard to preserve the barbecue tradition – and to eat some of the state’s best smoked meat."
McKinney's own Hutchins BBQ is among the restaurants participating. Their special is the all-you-can-eat barbecue for $17.99.
Hutchins is the only McKinney location that is featured in the celebration.
Four Dallas restaurants – Lockhart Smokehouse, Pecan Lodge, Peggy Sue BBQ and Smoke – are also participating.
Visit tmbbq.com for more information and the list of participating barbecue restaurants. Last year more than 50 BBQ restaurants took part in the first state-wide Texas Barbecue Week.
Earler this year, Hutchins won a readers poll in The Dallas Morning News for Dallas' Best Barbecue.
