DALLAS (Oct. 19, 2015) — You probably won’t scream out of fright, but perhaps with delight, when your El Fenix server brings by the special Halloween-shaped sopapillas at the end of your meal.

This Halloween weekend, and extended through Dia de los Muertos, Thursday, Oct. 29 through Monday, Nov. 2, El Fenix guests will receive a FREE pumpkin or ghost-shaped sopapilla to get in the spirit of everyone’s favorite spooky holiday. The complimentary* orange-and white-sugar covered sopapillas will be served at the conclusion of each meal at all 22 El Fenix restaurants (across North Texas and at WinStar World Casino & Resort).

The El Fenix in McKinney is located at 3450 S. Central Expy. in McKinney, between Eldorado Parkway and State Highway 121.

The deep-fried sopapilla is a popular Mexican pastry, similar to a donut. It’s homemade and hand-rolled at every El Fenix restaurant.

* Guests must purchase an entrée to receive complimentary sopapilla. One per person, per visit. Dine-in only. Available Oct. 29 – Nov. 2, 2015 only.

There are 22 El Fenix restaurants located throughout North Texas, and at WinStar World Casino & Resort. To find the one nearest you, visit ElFenix.com.

About El Fenix

El Fenix was founded in 1918 by Mike Martinez, a Mexican immigrant who opened a small restaurant on the corner of Griffin Street and McKinney Avenue in Dallas. Often, at its main location in downtown Dallas, the lunchtime line of patrons spills out the front door and down Alamo Street. El Fenix is renowned as the originator of “Tex-Mex cuisine” and the restaurant’s Wednesday “Enchilada Dinner Special,” which features two cheese enchiladas, refried beans, and rice. Acquired by Firebird Restaurant Group in 2008, El Fenix was refurbished with freshened interiors and a revamped menu, while maintaining its signature core menu and products. In 2010 Nation’s Restaurant News named El Fenix one of its 50 All-American Icons, “restaurants that stole our hearts and stood the test of time.” For more information and locations, visit ElFenix.com.
