Last year Amato’s Trattoria and Emporium Pies located to trendy Downtown McKinney because of the friendly atmosphere, great foot traffic and welcoming neighbors.

Amato’s Trattoria has been in McKinney since 2004. The new location at 216 E. Virginia St. offers room for large parties up to 150 and lovely outdoor café tables. Chef Scott Amato serves his family recipes brought from Sicily but made in-house. Chef really appreciates when someone comes in and compliments his Italian Dishes because of their authentic flavor. His personal favorite? Manicotti. But the real crowd pleaser is the Chicken Marsala. Business partner Rick Salcedo believes this is one of Chef Scott’s best sauces. The next time you are in the mood for authentic Italian Food, head downtown and try the Shrimp Scampi or one of their weekend specials.

Look them up on Foursquare, Facebook, Twitter and Yelp, or visit amatostrattoria.com.

How can you say no to a slice of pie when you are enthusiastically greeted by a young lady with a big smile, red lipstick and a vintage apron? Emporium Pies located at 107 S. Tennessee St. opened their doors in McKinney this past November. The McKinney location joins the original Emporium Pies located in the Bishop Arts District in Dallas. Co-owners and business partners Mary Sparks and Megan Wilkes say that opening the new McKinney location has exceeded their expectations from day one.

All of their pies are handmade with only the finest ingredients. They never use corn syrups, bleached flours or hydrogenated fats. The results are mouthwatering, delicious, fresh desserts ready for the discriminating palette.

“The Lord of the Pies” is a deep-dish apple that uses 10 apples to make it tall and decadent. “The Smooth Operator” is a French Silk chocolate pie with a crisp pretzel crust. Each day seven different pies are on the menu, including seasonal favorites. So grab a friend and relax while enjoying a piece of pie and a cup of coffee from the Expresso Bar, or order a whole pie and pick it up for that special event. Check out Emporium Pies in person or follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, or visit emporiumpies.com.
