It came down to the wire, but in the end Cadillac Pizza Pub of McKinney was voted the runner-up in the “Best Pizza in DFW” tournament.

The online voting competition sponsored by The Dallas Morning News began with the 25 best local pizza options as identified by the newspaper’s staff. Cadillac Pizza Pub finished second overall in the initial round of voting, slightly behind the top-seeded Campisi’s, a local institution with eight locations across the Metroplex. “The Caddy” topped Fireside Pies in its “Elite 8” matchup, and then bested Grimaldi’s Pizzeria in the “Final 4” round.

After more than 60,000 votes were cast, Cadillac Pizza Pub was nosed out in an extremely tight final round. Dough Pizzeria Napoletana, on Preston Road in Dallas, won with 52 percent of the vote.

“What an incredible ride we were on over the last few weeks,” said Preston Lancaster, founder of {33} Restaurant Group and co-owner of Cadillac Pizza Pub. “Our loyal customers put us on their backs, carried us into the championship round and almost pulled off the ultimate victory. As much as we would have loved to win, we’re obviously very pleased to be the runner-up in this DFW-wide contest.”

Cadillac Pizza Pub is no stranger to such contests, having been voted the Best Bar/Pub/Nightlife in the 2012 “Best of McKinney” competition by readers of McKinney Magazine. In a unique twist from most restaurants, The Caddy is committed to sourcing local ingredients for its menu. For example, the pub uses a local “Texas Sausage” made exclusively for its applewood-fired pizzas by Hamm’s Meat Market, as well as smoked brisket, applewood-smoked bacon and many other products provided by local vendors.

Located one block off the square in the revitalized historic area of Downtown McKinney, Cadillac Pizza Pub is the place to go for a laid-back happy hour or a delicious pizza dinner accompanied by a cool, live music vibe. Up-and-coming musicians of every genre are drawn to The Caddy by its unique feel, which evokes the cool blues of Memphis, the hipster buzz of Austin and the festive spirit of New Orleans.
