Be part of the action this Saturday at the 11th annual CRAPE MYRTLE RUN and festival.  This McKinney tradition has always been fun for families and in recent years has started attracting serious runners because of the addition of the certified 10K route. Runners of all levels have praised this scenic course along McKinney’s beautiful nature trails.

Besides the 10K, 5K and One-Mile Fun Run, attendees enjoy the run’s festival atmosphere in the ever-expanding Crape Myrtle Village.  The free petting zoo, inflatable obstacle course, carnival-style booths from sponsors, and face-painting are always popular.  This year a strolling magician will also be part of the festivities.

Gift cards and prizes will be given away throughout the morning – there’s even a prize for the most enthusiastic chicken dancers.

Runners can take their run bibs to McKinney’s downtown Oktoberfest and exchange them for free food and beverage tickets after the run!

The Crape Myrtle Trails board provides plantings to beautify McKinney’s school campuses, parks, and roadways.  Every year they provide all MISD 5th graders with a free crape myrtle plant right before Mother’s Day weekend to give as a gift for mom.  The board also gives a percentage of run proceeds directly to MISD schools to be used for their P.E. departments or however the schools see fit.
