Description
The Texas Music Office and Visit McKinney (McKinney Convention & Visitors Bureau) will co-host a Music Friendly Community Workshop. The workshop is free and open to anyone interested in learning how they can be part of this new Texas Music Office program that seeks to foster music business economic development in Texas cities and communities. Brendon Anthony, Director of the Texas Music Office within the Office of the Governor’s Economic Development and Tourism Division, will be on-hand to explain the Music Friendly Community designation and answer questions. All stakeholders in music in McKinney - musicians, venue owners, educators, students, parents, media, and city officials - are welcome to attend.
McKinney’s workshop next week is the first step in the certification process, and when complete, McKinney will join around a dozen other Texas cities deemed “Music Friendly.” In 2019, McKinney received designations from the state as both a Historic Downtown Cultural District and a Texas Film-Friendly City.
