Swirl, Sip and Savor – Bubbly for Valentine’s Day and Every Occasion!
Join us as we learn about the various types of sparkling wines that are available to enjoy on a special occasion, like Valentine’s Day, or just because it’s cocktail time on the patio. We will learn about the different types of sparkling wine, and the different processes and regulations that make up each variety such as champagne, prosecco, cava, crémant, frizzante, and other, along with the various wine regions and grape varieties.
As we swirl, sip and savor we will learn about the amazing variety, availability and various price points for these delicious wines. Each wine will be paired with small bites of food that complement the style. It will include savory, salty, and sweet, flavors that bring out new and interesting components of both the wine and food.
About your instructor – Mary Vail-Grube
I was lucky to live in the San Francisco Bay Area for almost 15 years as a young woman and spent many weekends exploring the wineries of Napa, Sonoma, and the nearby Livermore Valley. The first red wine I tasted was a gift to me when I arrived in California, and I was hooked! I have also been fortunate to travel to France and Italy and visited beautiful family vineyards and wineries to experience the distinctive style of winemaking in Europe. Over the years, I grew to love wine, as well as the culture that surrounds the growing of grapes and making of wine. I decided I wanted to learn more. One of the benefits of more knowledge is a better ability to select wines that I really like and finding good wines in any price range in the stores where I shop. Now, I love sharing that knowledge with others so that they can learn more about the history and culture of winemaking and feel more confident about choosing a wine that they will enjoy drinking!
I have received the Level 2 Award from Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) and am an active member of Dallas Women for Wine Sense.
Price: $35 for education and small bites. Bubbly wine will be provided free of charge.
