McKinney Repertory Theatre is proud to be bringing back their popular, popcorn throwing, summer melodrama with their production of “Much Ado Out West”. This Western romp is inspired by Shakespeare's hilarious battle-of-the-sexes romantic comedy, "Much Ado About Nothing."
Pedro, Ben and Claude discover that while they've been away at the Civil War, Betty and the other womenfolk have been doing all the roping and ranching. Despite how much the cowpokes and the ladies of the ranch taunt each other; love seems to be in the air. Claude falls head over heels in love with Winny, a lovely Southern belle, but Calamity Jane, a rambunctious tomboy, secretly longs for Claude's affections and is bent on stirring up a big bowl of trouble when she doesn't get her way. Meanwhile, Ben and Betty are arch-rivals, only happy when they are insulting each other...or is it just their way of masking their deeply guarded feelings for one another?
“Much Ado Out West” is written by Wade Bradford. The show is being directed by Lindsey Humphries and she will be assisted by Jared Semen. McKinney Repertory Theatre (MRT) is a 100% volunteer, nonprofit, community theatre. MRT is McKinney’s Official Community Theatre and is a resident company at McKinney Performing Arts Center in historic, downtown McKinney.
Tickets are $22 for adults, $19 for Seniors 55+, $17 for children/students ages 4-18. Group tickets are available by calling the MPAC ticket office at (214) 544-4630.
