For years "fat" has been the bad guy in our food. But now our health experts are saying that the sugar industry is to blame. More and more studies have come out that show the ways sugar is impacting our health and ultimately causing the obesity and diabetes epidemics that we're facing. Eating too much sugar has been linked to weight gain, increased risk of heart disease, increased risk of diabetes and many other health issues.
Most of us think that as long as we stay away from that decadent dessert, we have controlled the sugar in our diet. But what many of us don't realize is that sugar is also hiding in many of the savory foods we're eating every single day. Sugar hides behind 57 different names and lurks in many seemingly “healthy” foods. Extra ingredients like high fructose corn syrup or molasses can quickly derail your daily recommended intake of roughly 25 grams of sugar per day.
Join us as Susan Haney, owner and health coach at Upstream Health Coaching, shares with us some secret sugar bombs you need to watch out for and gives us tips and tricks on transitioning the hidden sugar out of our diets.
