For thousands of years, we humans clothed ourselves in natural fibers. All that changed in the 1950s, with the advancement of plastics. Petroleum oozed into our wardrobes and we’ve been wrapping ourselves in fossil fuels ever since.
In Around the World in 80 Fabrics, they ask, ”Can our clothing choices help repair and restore instead of destroy our dwindling natural and cultural resources?”
Around the World in 80 Fabrics is a
traveling multi-media museum and educational outreach adventure into the wild world of fabrics.
Join us as Around the World in 80 Fabrics Outreach Director Lesli Robertson and Photographer Jamie House share the story and images of their recent trip to Uganda to work with bark cloth and other natural fiber artists.
Lunch Bunch Speaker Series is an informal conversation around topics of interest to members and nonmembers. Lunch is not provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. All are welcome. The event is free
