The symbols of love given for Valentine’s Day are a fun way for children to learn how to express appreciation for those they love.
We've rounded up our favorite fun ways to celebrate with children!
1. Create special one-on-one time
Many people go on a date with their significant other to celebrate Valentine’s Day, so why not plan a favorite activity or meal just with your child? Let him choose the activity and location. If you have multiple children, try to do something special with each child individually.
2. Read a book about love
Snuggle up with your child and read a book about love. Some great options are Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney, Llama Llama I Love You by Anna Dewdney, Love Monster by Rachel Bright, and I Love You Forever by Robert Munsch.
3. Make a heart-shaped breakfast
Enlist your child’s help in making a festive Valentine’s Day breakfast. Heart-shaped pancakes, toast or waffles are both fun and easy!
4. Write love notes
Write a note or draw a picture for your little one and leave it somewhere he can easily find, such as on his nightstand, bedroom door, or bathroom counter.
5. Model Love
Set a good example by modeling for your child what it means to love others. You can do this by being kind to a family member, by saying “please and “thank you,” or by volunteering to help someone in need.
