Working full time and being a great parent is tough. Especially for those such as health care professionals, first responders, and service industry employees whose work hours fall outside the traditional 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. work day. It is with these hard-working parents in mind that McKinney’s Holy Family School will begin offering Evening Childcare for children 3 years to 9 years of age. This care will be available Monday-Friday from 6 p.m. to midnight. Holiday care will also be offered with special registration. Meals and snacks will be provided as well.
Evening childcare will be under the direction of the evening program founder, Elinor Rose Williams. Williams, a mother of four, moved to McKinney ten years ago, beginning her search to find a loving, safe childcare solution for her own children. “I quickly learned that accessible childcare was not readily available.” As an employee of the McKinney Housing Authority, she found that affordable childcare, particularly with hours beyond 6 p.m. limited many families. “I not only could relate but totally understood their frustrations. I had many of those same challenges. My purpose became quite clear to me in 2017.” Through the Holy Family School Evening Childcare program, Williams hopes to encourage and equip families to grow stronger by providing access to evening childcare in a safe, loving environment.
Holy Family School (HFS) opened more than 65 years ago when McKinney was a bustling farm community. Founded in 1951 at Holy Family Church, HFS is a mission of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas. Since 2002, Holy Family School has been located at 500 Throckmorton St., McKinney’s Historic Doty School.
Today, Holy Family School’s weekday program serves families with children ages 6 weeks to Pre-K, Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. For registration information, call 972-562-5476, or visit hfsmckinney.org, or visit 500 Throckmorton Street, McKinney, Texas.
