August marks the beginning of a new school year. It may be hard to get the kids ready for a routine and schedule after a fun-filled summer but there is one thing that makes it more fun – back to school shopping! From new bright colored folders to highlighters, markers and sharpened pencils, there are plenty of places to find the supplies you’ll need. And, of course, you need to find just the right outfit for the first day of school. Our back to school guide lines out great places to find one-of-a-kind looks for all ages.

While you shop for back to school fashions, don’t forget to pick up something for you. Our style file in this month’s issue focuses on great date night fashions. Writer Caitlin Skidmore offers three great looks for an end of summer night on the town.

As school starts again – so does Texas’ favorite Friday night football! Looking for a fresh take on tailgating’s favorite food, the hot dog? We have a few ideas to spruce up a hot dog and create a gourmet cookout.

Personally, I must admit, this issue has what every pet lover (that’s me!) is looking for – the best way to spoil your beloved furry family member. From toys to treats there’s plenty of great ways to spoil your fur baby that you can find at local stores.

This issue is full of interesting stories – meet new Collin College President Dr. Neil Matkin, check out the ‘Boyd’ behind Boyd High School, and learn all about the moveable feasting of the food truck business.

So get reading – you don’t want to miss a thing! And enjoy the dog days of summer!
