The McKinney ISD has released its school supply lists for the upcoming 2012-2013 school year.

"We are excited to begin a new school year!" the McKinney ISD said in a news release. "Although most of you are enjoying the remaining part of your summer break, we know that you are also starting to think about new school clothes, backpacks, haircuts and school supplies."

The state's annual Sales Tax Holiday will be on Aug. 17, 18 and 19 this year. Shoppers will get a break from state and local taxes during these days on most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced under $100.

In 2012, Texas shoppers get a break from state and local sales taxes on Aug. 17, 18 and 19 — the state's annual tax holiday. Lay-away plans can be used again this year to take advantage of the sales tax holiday. As in previous years, the law exempts most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced under $100 from sales and use taxes, which could save shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend.
