McKinney ISD Superintendent Dr. Rick McDaniel and members of the MISD Human Resources Department were joined by Frisco RoughRiders mascot, Deuce, for the announcement on June 20 that MISD had again been named a Best Place to Work by the Dallas Business Journal.

McKinney ISD has been named a “Best Place to Work” by the Dallas Business Journal, making 2017 the second consecutive year that the district has been recognized by the award-winning magazine.

“The Dallas Business Journal has discovered what those of us in the MISD family already knew: this truly is one of the best places to work!” said Tamira Griffin, MISD assistant superintendent and chief human resources officer. “To be honored with this award for the second straight year is quite an accomplishment for the district, and the fact that it’s based on survey responses from our employees is, to me, the most significant aspect of it. I’m proud to work for a school district that cares so much for its students and staff.”

Now in its 15th year, the Best Places to Work program showcases outstanding North Texas organizations in five classifications: extra small (10-24 employees), small (25-49), medium (50-249), large (250-999) and extra-large (1,000+). In order to be considered, organizations must have a minimum of 10 employees and be located in Dallas, Collin, Tarrant, Rockwall, Ellis or Kaufman counties.

Survey information is collected from employees by Quantum Workplace who then turn the results over to Dallas Business Journal. Last year, only about 100 of the roughly 460 nominated organizations made the final cut to be recognized as a Best Place to Work.

This year, MISD is again one of a handful of Dallas-area organizations in the Extra-Large Business category that have been selected for recognition and will be honored along with the rest of the chosen organizations at DFW’s “Biggest Company Picnic” on Thursday, September 21 at Dr. Pepper Ballpark.

“I am very pleased that McKinney ISD was named one of the Best Places to Work for the second year,” said MISD Superintendent Dr. Rick McDaniel. “This honor is the culmination of the efforts of a lot of hard working teachers, staff members and administrators in our district who have created a culture in which excellence is the expectation.

“The strength of our culture has attracted others from the surrounding areas who want to come teach in McKinney ISD. We believe we are a first-class organization and will strive to earn this honor again next year,” McDaniel said.
