McKINNEY — The McKinney Boyd Broadway Broncos return their acclaimed production of Legally Blonde to the stage the weekend of May 10-12. The high school theatre troupe is remounting the show to help offset costs associated with an invitation to perform before a national audience at the high school theatre event of the year – the 50th International Thespian Festival at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
Benefit shows are scheduled for Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets will be available for a donation of $15 for adults and $10 for students during all lunch periods (10:10 a.m. to 12:40 p.m.) at Boyd High School; tickets will also be available at the Auditorium box office one hour before curtain for all performances.
The production is directed by McKinney Boyd Director of Theatre, Vicki Kirkley. She is assisted by Assistant Theatre Directors Jonathan Pitzer (lighting and set construction), Michelle Greene (costumes and prop design), choreographer Cindy Lee and music director/sound designer John Norine Jr. The show is rated PG-13.
“We are so proud of these students for their dedication and work effort. The experience of performing on a national stage is one that they will treasure for the rest of their lives” said Vicki Kirkley, McKinney Boyd High School Director of Theatre.
Whether experiencing McKinney Boyd’s production of “Legally Blonde” again or for the first time, your attendance is a great way to support our teens as they continue to raise the bar for theatre in our community.
