March 18, 2020 – Collin College called a special Board of Trustees meeting Tuesday, March 17 to address actions relative to the continuation of the college’s academic mission during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.

The following decisions were approved by the Collin College Board of Trustees:

  • Classes moving online. Effective Monday, March 23, the majority of Collin College classes will be available in an online format for the foreseeable future. This may extend to the end of the term, but this has not yet been determined. Faculty is available to teach most classes or sizable portions of classes online. For those classes not able to go online, the college is diligently seeking and planning workarounds with many already moving forward.
  • Academic support services operational. Though Collin College will be offering classes online, in order to provide academic support and instruction, the libraries, computer, math and writing labs remain open and operational, allowing students to receive the help they need for their classes. The college will be practicing recommended social distancing.
  • Drop date extended. The college will extend the drop date for all of its 16-week semester students, moving it from March 20 to March 30, 2020. The drop date extension will also apply to the college’s dual credit students.
  • Employees guaranteed normal pay. All college employees will be guaranteed their normal pay. This includes full and part-time faculty and staff and student employees during the crisis time period.
  • Graduation ceremony postponed. The college has decided to postpone the May 15 graduation ceremony with the intent of moving it to late August.
